PRF Team Parent Association
New to Portage Rocket Football this year – we are forming a Team Parent Association (TPA) to help connect and improve communication between the Portage Rocket Football (PRF) board members, coaches, and parents, as well as providing support to Team Parents, and other PRF volunteers. We are still in the planning stages, but have many ideas already on how to better serve the PRF families, provide assistance to the board and coaches, and to promote our organization. Simplification of the registration process and fundraising, improving communication, and providing information and support to PRF families/volunteers are at the top of our goals. One improvement that we would like to implement early this year would be to appoint one or two parents per Portage elementary and middle school to serve as a PRF representative within the school. It is our thinking that we can best support this organization and help build community among our growing membership if we make it accessible and familiar, at a more personal level. This position would begin before registration, and continue through the football season.
If you would be interested in being a PRF representative in your school, or would like more information, please contact our TPA Chairs (see below for contact info). More information will be available regarding the PRF Team Parent Association in the near future. Please remember to check the PRF website www.portagerocketfootball.com for information regarding registration and rocket football news.
PRF Team Parent Description
Volunteering your time and talents as a PRF Team Parent can be an extremely rewarding experience, and a wonderful way to contribute to the organization. For those who have taken on this job in the past, your experiences may have varied greatly. With the introduction of the Team Parent Association (TPA) this year, we hope to lend support and guidance to facilitate successful experiences and to create a pool of trained volunteers to provide essential support for Portage Rocket Football.
The following are the main responsibilities of a Team Parent:
1. Relaying all league communications on paper, email, and/or by phone to parents of players.
2. Maintaining a team roster/communication list for all parents of players on your team.
3. Organizing required volunteers for your team for Head Table, field work, etc.
4. Distributing picture order forms, relaying schedule/instructions for your team pictures, picking up the picture orders for your team at the Head table when they arrive, and distributing the pictures to each family.
5. Relaying information from the Coach to parents regarding practice/game information including schedules and changes of schedules, necessary equipment, etc.
6. Collecting game pants after the last game, to be returned to the league.
7. Providing assistance to the Coach with any non-coaching duties/business, to allow practice/game time to be better spent with the players.
The TPA has been established to help improve the flow of communication between the PRF board members, coaches, and parents, as well as providing support to Team Parents, and all PRF volunteers. We hope to help make your volunteer experience enjoyable and thank you in advance for your continued support of Portage Rocket Football.
Please contact a TPA Chairperson with any questions of for more information. Thanks!
